If you aim to get into a Russian university to pursue a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degrees in Russian, you should consider doing a University Preparation course first. The goal of this programme is to ensure that you excel in your Russian language skills and successfully pass TORFL (the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language) upon completion of the course. After having completed the University Preparation Course, you should be equipped to take on a degree taught in Russian.

University Preparation course focuses on teaching you the Russian language, (how to read, write, speak, pronounce and use grammar correctly, whilst also putting emphasis on the subject of your future degree. Relevant vocabulary, topics and papers will be taught and covered to ensure that you are fully ready for your further Russian education.

University Preparation courses are available at the following universities:

  1. Lomonosov Moscow State University: Home to an excellent Russian Institute of Language and Culture, this is one of the top 50 universities worldwide in subjects such as mathematics, physics, linguistics and modern languages (QS rankings).
  2. St. Petersburg State University: This is Russia’s oldest university attracting students from all over the world. It houses the prestigious Russian Language Institute which has over 60 years of experience in teaching Russian as a foreign language.
  3. Kazan Federal University: A major scientific research centre with more than 80 laboratories, this university offers an excellent Russian Language Institute for university preparation.
  4. Petrozavodsk State University: The largest multi-disciplinary educational institution in Northern European Russia, this university offers high-quality Russian courses with a communicative approach.
  5. St. Petersburg Transport University: One of the oldest and most prestigious transport schools in Russia with a long tradition of teaching Russian language to foreigners.
  6. St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering: Well-renowned for its architecture and engineering programmes, this university offers excellent university preparation programmes.
  7. St. Petersburg Polytechnic University: One of the top research facilities in Russia with over 3,000 foreign students, its university preparation programmes ensure you are fully equipped to take your degree in Russian.

2) You can also study in two different universities or language schools during your year in Russia, for example, you can spend your first semester in one city and your second semester in another. We are happy to prepare a tailor made programme for you.
